Laura ten Voorde is an educated violinist, singer, songwriter/ composer, producer and teacher. Besides her main instruments she also plays piano, Harding Fela, jouhikko, Sami tromme and last but not least, she masters many singing techniques (grunting, throatsinging and experimental singing). She studied at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam (NL) and thinks out of the box like no other.

It all started when she was almost nine years old, and her grandfather gave her his violin. When she held his instrument in her hands the first time she was immediately sold.

In 2006 she got accepted at Codarts and then everything really started! During those years she played classical works from Bach and Mozart to Shostakovich and Smetana. She studied violin with Natalia Morozova and took chamber music lessons from, among others, Marien van Staalen, Tommy Shimon, Gordan Nicolic and Sander Sittig. Her specialization is chamber music which she also performed live with the Con Anima Piano Trio. Within this pianotrio she was able to fully express her love for classical chamber music. In 2009 Con Anima was chosen by the Codarts chamber music comittee as the best, most passionate and outstandingly creative ensemble of that school year.

In addition to her violin studies, she also went to Codarts to sing, to fulfill her second passion. She followed singing lessons from no other than Harjo Pasveer, who taught her classical singing, but also pop/ rock singing and other alternative singing styles, like grunts. For the past year and a half she expanded her horizon and learned, among other things, throat singing and playing the jouhikko.

However, classical music is not her only passion. For many years she listened to alternative music styles, such as rock, alternative, heavy metal, and progrock. She is influenced by artists such as: Queen, Sivert Høyem, Simon and Garfunkel, Enslaved, Depeche Mode, Björk, Pink Floyd, Wardruna, Muse, Sonata Arctica and Kate Bush. In the third year of her studies, she decided to follow her heart and set up a minor herself at Codarts University of the Arts. She really wanted to learn how to write music herself, a dream come true! This cross- over minor, ‘rock minor for strings’, became after her graduation part of the curriculum at Codarts University of the Arts.

A heavy- metal band emerged from this rock-minor, that she named Adeia in 2008. Within this band, she converted her poems into lyrics and gradually learned how to write songs. That year she also played on an electric violin for the first time. Finally, she managed to create a unique experience during her final exam in 2011: to combine her love of both classical and alternative music in one concert! Her final exam consisted of two parts: the first half she played classical pieces and the second half their own songs with her band Adeia.

Adeia broke up in late 2016 after being active for eight years, including many performances and the recording of two full length albums (Hourglass and Serenity, available on Spotify and Youtube, among others).

After a few months, she decided to start writing new music in september 2017, this time solo. This was the start of a very exciting journey! She began to write without purpose for a certain music style this time and never felt more free. While she learned as well other singing techniques from 2018, she also started another interesting journey… the world of mixing and music production opened up to her. To name a few names who helped her along the way: she received producing lessons from guitarist, composer, and producer Sander Gommans (ex-After Forever / Trillium / Mayan / Phantom Elite) and extra composition lessons from Florian Magnus Maier (Dark Fortress, Alkaloid). Within her new style, she blends her classical roots, her love for heavy metal & alternative music, and her connection with the north and nature together in her new compositions. At the moment she is busy mixing her first solo album, and she is working hard on the road!

Laura moved to Tromsø in september 2019 to follow her heart and her roots, and to build a new life in Norway as a musician and a teacher.
